Hands-on,
across the stack.

Hi, I’m Robin, the founder and AI researcher behind Kroonen AI. I work hands-on across model research, open tools, operated products, and the infrastructure joining them.

Kroonen AI is the studio portfolio, services site, and formal research record. This site is my first-person engineering notebook: architecture decisions, operating lessons, useful failures, and the questions worth taking to Hacker News.

Research feeds product

Genesis pretraining and mechanistic-interpretability experiments sharpen the open tools; the open tools sharpen the hosted products. The loop is deliberate: build, measure, publish what broke, and carry the evidence forward.

Why Libre?

Most of the work is open source, and the self-hosted tools avoid telemetry by default. I prefer small, inspectable systems that people can run, change, and leave without asking permission.

Why no comments here?

The interesting part often begins after an article is published. Instead of building a small, isolated comment system, each post can link to its discussion on Hacker News. The article stays fast and focused; the conversation happens where technical readers already gather.
